SWIMWEAR TRENDS SS2023 WOMEN'S & MEN'S
High on the list of priorities for swimwear is adaptability, with consumers looking for designs with custom features. Designers need to meet this demand with coordinated swimwear that can be tied in different ways, layers that can be peeled off or worn separately, and details that can be removed to extend use. This report offers original designs and inspiring analysis to inform new products. For spring/summer 2023 swimwear is divided into three themes: SYMBIOTIC wraps the body in soft structures and soft materials. The REFORM theme puts the focus on structured shapes and details with hardware trims. WONDER explores vintage structures in a wave of retro prints.
SYMBIOTIC SWIMWEAR
Symbiotic styles are shaped into organic forms that curve and twist around the body. Soft, tactile fabrics are a high priority for these unstructured forms with adjustable details, while prints add wavy abstraction. Wrap the body in softly gathered forms with long tie fastenings or add frills to soften edges and create interesting negative space with circular, oval, and tear-drop cutouts choose soft, touchable fabrics with textures or wild organic prints in irregular patterns. Men's styles push the emphasis on softly structured styles in crafted materials, fabrics with shine, or patterns with a natural or abstract organic theme.
